US to Limit ‘Forever Chemicals’ in Drinking Water

The US government has proposed new restrictions on six harmful chemicals found in drinking water, including PFAS chemicals that have been linked to health issues.

These chemicals have only been regulated by some US states up until now.

The new rule will require communities to test and treat water for these chemicals, which could prevent thousands of deaths and reduce tens of thousands of serious illnesses.

PFAS chemicals are known as “forever chemicals” because they persist in the environment for years.
