Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced a new CEO of Twitter, and that he will step down from the role in about six weeks.
Musk did not reveal the identity of the incoming chief executive.
He intends to transition to a role as executive chairman and chief technology officer, focusing on overseeing product.
Musk’s announcement follows his December pledge to step down as head of Twitter as soon as he found someone to take the job.
The move comes as Musk faces increased scrutiny over his use of social media to communicate his views on cryptocurrencies and other topics.
Twitter shares rose following the announcement.
