US Border Soon To Be Overwhelmed With Storm of Migrants

Title 42 is ending today, May 11th.

President Joe Biden’s administration claims they will deny asylum to migrants who show up at the U.S.-Mexico border without first applying online or seeking protection in a country they passed through.

The measure is part of new measures meant to crack down on illegal border crossings while creating new legal pathways.

The rule imposes severe limitations on asylum for those crossing illegally who didn’t first seek a legal pathway.

U.S. officials said they had plans to open regional hubs around the hemisphere, where migrants could apply to go to the U.S., Canada or Spain.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the lifting of Title 42 “does not mean our border is open.”

Roughly 24,000 law-enforcement officers were stationed along the 1,951-mile border with Mexico.

Biden said his administration was working to make the change orderly.
