Rod Stewart has everyone’s attention when he announced that he is leaving the rock and roll genre behind after more than 60 years.
During the 78-year-old singer’s appearance on “BBC Breakfast,” Stewart said he’s not retiring from music, but has decided to “move on” to a different genre.
Responding to host Charlie Stayt noting that “rockstars are performing into incredible ages now,” Stewart declared: “I am actually stopping.”
After the rocker concludes his 2023 tour, Stewart says “I’m really looking forward to doing something else, especially singing with Jools’ band.”
“I’m not retiring but I want to move on,” the 78-year-old musician told a news outlet.
Stewart added that he wants “to leave the rock ‘n’ roll stuff behind, for a while.”
The British icon has dedicated 50 years of his life to music and performing.
