Woman Murdered By Stolen Forklift in Home Depot Parking Lot

A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged in a deadly hit-and-run with a stolen forklift in Charles County, Maryland over the weekend.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary and theft at the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in the 2500 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf, around 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, July 2.

Documents state Brown was Lowe’s employee when he suddenly left his shift without informing anyone on July 1.

He returned and stole a $20,000 Yale forklift, bashed and rammed the steel storage doors on the southern end of the building.

The suspect then rammed a car with a 73-year-old woman sleeping inside, Gloristine Pinkney, who got out after her vehicle was struck, then started running away.

Pinkney tried to run away, but Brown followed her, ran over her with a forklift, stole her car, and fled the scene, according to detectives.

Brown is charged with seven felonies for first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, theft of $25,000 to under $100,000, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, second-degree burglary, and theft of $1,500 to under $25,000.
