Couple Dies in Fiery Hot Air Balloon

A couple from Mexico City and their daughter decided to take a flight on a hot air balloon, never considering the worst could happen.

In Mexico City on Saturday, a hot air balloon caught fire and crashed to the ground, resulting in the death of a Mexican couple and serious injury to their daughter.

According to the Daily Mail, Jose Nolasco, 50, and his wife Viridiana Becerril, 38, were killed in the tragic incident, which was recorded on video and shared on social media.

Regina Itzani, the couple’s daughter, reportedly sustained a broken arm after jumping from the burning gondola, as per Mexican authorities

. However, despite her injuries, which include second-degree burns, she is expected to survive, according to the Daily Mail.

The family, who is from Caujimalpa de Morelos, were taking a joyride over the pre-Hispanic ruin site of Teotihuacan, a well-known tourist spot.

It remains unclear whether there was a pilot aboard the balloon, which seemed to be still tethered to the ground.
