The weight loss chain, Jenny Craig, has confirmed rumors they are shutting down for good.
Jenny Craig announced on their Facebook page this week that they will shut its doors after 40 years in business and helping people lose weight.
Named after its founder, the Jenny Craig business started when she couldn’t lose weight after giving birth to her second child.
About 500 physical operations will be shut down, and approximately 1,000 people will be laid off because of the closing.
Customers are being told that “all auto-delivery subscriptions have been canceled” and that “all coaching sessions, food orders, and merchandise sales have ceased online and in corporate centers.”
Last week, corporate employees at the company’s Carlsbad, California, office received a WARN Act notice that the company would be closing the office on June 24 but may close as soon as this week.
